Covid now 2023

I have Covid for the first time. Just wondering what everyone's experiences are with it this year? I only had symptoms yesterday morning then went down hill pretty quickly and was in bed all day, unless I was getting up to vomit or pee, worst headache ever, felt stinking hot when it was 10 degrees last night and had the fan going. I feel a lot better today but still not well, still in bed with a foggy head and sore diaphragm from coughing and vomiting, sore throat, still coughing. I've heard many people say its like the flu but it kind of reminds me of gastro more than the flu, with the extra bonus of a cough. I had the flu about a month ago and didn't feel as bad as this, still able to do stuff and be upright without my head feeling like its going to explode.

Every one bar my 12yo had it last year. He never gets sick.
Me, first day felt like death, day after that, I was just tired like I would any other cold
Partner, felt like he had bad allergies
8 and 10yo it irritated their asthma but mostly OK
13yo was only sick when they knew we were looking. (All umvaxed)

My mother had it 3 times, and was fully vexed. First 2 times was just like bad asthma, 3rd time she was fighting cancer and she got quite unwell.
Step dad, twice. He requored meds, fully vaxed
My brothers asthma was affected but mostly fine
My sister felt sore all over. Her reactions from the vaccine was worse then the virus.

I've had it twice. Once before being fully vaccinated and once after. The first time I had it I was so ridiculously sick I could hardly get out of bed. The second time I had it I wouldn't have even known I had it if I didn't have to test due to my child having it.

I had it for the first time just before Christmas. I had migraines most days in the week before I tested. I get migraines anyway, so I didn’t think too much of it even though I couldn’t pinpoint the cause. On the Wednesday I was quite snotty, but changes in the weather can set my nose off and that was a particularly cold day. By Friday afternoon I was starting to sound a bit croaky and cough. Saturday my temp was 37.5 all day. Sunday morning my temp was still 37.5 and I was feeling like crap. That’s when it clicked that I was still regularly taking painkillers for my migraines and that would have been keeping my temp down. Ended up doing a RAT, and came up with an almost instant positive. Most symptoms were gone by Christmas Eve. Cough lingered for 2-3 months. Fatigue lingered 4-5 months. Memory has improved, but still needing to write things down or put reminders in my phone so I don’t forget.

My 16 year old son tested positive for the first time yesterday (hospital routinely tests surgical patients during admission). He’s had no symptoms at all. He had been on IV antibiotics and intense chest physio (hospital treatment at home) for 10 days in the lead up to his surgery as he has a chronic lung condition. He was negative on the 8th when the IV antibiotics were started. He had a slight sore throat on the way home from hospital (surgery got cancelled), developed a headache and was really tired, sleeping most of the afternoon. He was woken quite early and was fasting for over 12 hours, so that could explain the headache and tiredness. He woke feeling better this morning.

That is bad timing for your son, I hope he doesn't have to wait too much longer to have it done!

Really bad timing, because he’d been on the waiting list for this surgery for nearly 2 years.

My family got off pretty lightly.
My partner went first. He had headaches and a savage fever. Lasted 2 days.
I started with a slightly sore throat early in the morning, stayed home since I knew my partner had been sick the previous week. By mid morning I had that same fever and my whole body ached. Didn't sleep that night as I was so cold. Next morning the fever broke and I slept all day. Start to finish including sleeping it off was under 48 hours.
Our son finished up, much the same as us. He didn't get a sick as we did but his lasted about twice as long
We all had a lingering cough that needed cough mixture to clear up. It hung around for about 2 weeks after the rest of the symptoms had gone.
No vomiting.
That was last year

I've had both a cold and the flu this year and was sicker with both of those.

When I had covid, it started as a really bad sore throat and blocked nose. Then came the fevers and the body aches - the pain in my upper back was indescribable and nothing I did gave me any relief.
I was basically bedridden for 4 days, felt improved but still sluggish for a few more days and had a mild cough that lingered for a bit.

My immune system must have taken a hit though, I've had 2 nasty respiratory viruses since (both times I was far sicker for way longer than when I had covid) and I've had 2 bouts of tonsillitis, too. It's taken me the best part of a year to feel well again let's put it that way!

I think that's what happened to me by getting the flu first, thinking I was good still being able to do stuff then covid came along and KO'd me
