Ortho-K for kids

Have any of the IM tried Ortho-K, either for themselves or for their kids?

My 12yo needs glasses and a friend mentioned Ortho-K and apparently its fantastic and has great results. Going to a general optometrist in 3 days for fitting of glasses and additional information but any help/experience would be amazing. We are based in Melbourne if that at all helps.

Any help/information would be greatly appreciated.

I tried it as a child, would have been great if I could have put the contacts in. Ask about it but it’s not suited for every eye condition

I have used ortho-k lenses for over 10 years and there are definitely good points like they last for several years and obviously it's not necessary to wear/use anything during the day for vision. However it's panic inducing when I wake up in the morning and find one of the lenses has come out during the night and I have to search through bedsheets to find it. It was also sold to me as something that I would only have to use every second or third night however if I don't wear them for even one night by the end of the day my vision deteriorates to the point I'm not comfortable driving especially at dusk/in the dark. They aren't the most comfortable thing to wear initially however I do now find that they help prevent my eyes getting dry overnight and I barely notice I'm wearing them unless something gets on the lens. I have considered going back to glasses or looking at other options to correct my vision but right now I still think they are the best option for me. Hope that helps!
