Please excuse me asking this here but I don’t know where else to ask.
On Facebook, there is someone I went to send a friend request to, and there’s no add friend button. There’s only “see options” in grey.
I don’t think it’s a privacy settings issue as this person had an add friend button for another person and they were able to add them as a friend

You can set that only certain people can add you as a friend, so you don’t get random adds.
But wouldn’t all non friends and non friends of friends have the same thing?
No it’s something like 5 mutual friends then you can add
I'd say it is a privacy setting. You can lock your facebook profile down pretty tight so this person has most likely heavily restricted who can/can't send them a friend request.
I have mine set similarly so randoms in my groups or clients who have staked my fb and basically anyone who I dont know on a personal level can't send me requests.
I'm pretty sure you can set it from a free for all anywhere to x amount of mutual friends needed before a request can be sent.
You could try and find them on messenger and just be like "Hey it's 'Susan' from (insert where you know this person from), thought it would be cool to reconnect. Shoot me a friend request if you like 😊'.
Failing that, you probably just need to take this as a sign from the universe (or a direct sign from this person) that a friend request is not welcome.
