My partner of 10 years has been charged for a crime he was involved with 25yrs ago. It's not a hanus or disgusting crime, but one that can potentially carry a 7-10yr sentience. He's not a bad person, he just made a stupid mistake in his youth.
I'm worried what will happen to our family if he is given a heavy sentence. He is the income earner, and my carer as I'm disabled. I can't work due to disability. He has full custody of his kids from his previous marriage, I will likely lose them. They have no suitable maternal family but I'm not related to them. Iv been their full time step mum for 8yrs.
I won't be able to cover the bills. I can't work but I don't qualify for a DSP. No one will hire me, iv been looking for years. I'll have to break my lease, and move, during a housing crisis. I have no where to go in terms of family, and I don't want to lose my dog, she's my security blanket. This will greatly affect all the children and our daughter.
What organisations are their in NSW, with in the mid north coast who can potentially help with housing, financial aid for when a partner is incaserated.

If he has a clean record then since this was so long ago he has a good chance of proving good character, there’s no benefit to jail and he is needed out of jail as a sole parent and carer.
This is our hope. Ut I can't stop thinking about the worst case..... I'm a planner and I hate being caught out guard.
What is he actually charged with? And was he under 18 while committing the offence?
And is it a magistrate’s court matter or a district court matter.
