I'm starting a course soon. Disability support. I haven't studied since 2018, a course I didn't finish due to extreme stress and my own disability. I am do disappointed in myself for not finishing that course and I don't plan in failing myself again.
I am scared though. The stresses from then, are still quite current with no end in sight. Now with the added stress of my mother being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
How do I keep myself focussed on my goal.... I have bipolar too, even medicated, extreme stress will and has teiffered mild mania.

Planning, calendars, short goals, and address your needs and find adjustments, you can’t just ignore them and just WILL yourself not to fail. You have to help yourself to succeed by asking for and taking all the help you can to get through each phase. You persist, (even if you stop, drop out or can’t start some things) you persist and eventually, one of those phases will be your final one.
I have similiar MH issues, I work full time and study as well (university). I hadn't studied since 2002!!
The hardest part is starting, starting that assignment, starting to study for the exam, starting the reading etc.
If you aren't doing it when you should be, then you're sitting around feeling really stressed, but achieving nothing.
So set yourself a timetable, for example, Mon-Wed read from 7-8 pm. Make it small to start with so it isn't so overwhelming, build up your stamina. If you don't work and this is your only focus, then pretend it's a job and do school hours, whilst the kids aren't around. I'm pretty sure it's a basic course, so as long as you do the reading and assessments, I'm sure you'll be fine.
I'm not going to lie, when I have an assessment due, I do get pretty stressed. However, it has got less with time.
