Hi mums, my 14yr old wants to get a job, and everything she's looking at requires a resume.
What do you put in a resume when they don't have any previous jobs?
Thanks

I would do a one page resume, keep it simple and easy to read. Name, email, phone number.
Very brief bullet points of hobbies/experiences that show responsibility, interests (especially if relevant to the job), motivation, ability to learn or interact with adults.
Add school, school finish time and days/hours available.
Add a personal statement - three or four lines describing who they are, where in life and what they’re looking for. Write them in first person using I but then remove all the I’s. For example,
Year 9 student with career ambition to become a mechanic. Ready to start a junior position. Available to work up to ten hours a week during school term and more during school holidays.
Usually at that age employers are very understanding and know that it's pretty hard to have any prior experience at that age. From memory I even think maccas don't bother with a resume anymore and I really wish more employers offering unskilled jobs didn't ask for resumes, they're a waste of time and not needed. Ask what you want at the interview. Just my opinion.
My son is 17 and has two jobs since he was 15 and his resume had things like his extra curricular activities. Its all he needed to put, such as sporting clubs, sibling - sitting , youth programs, yard work duties, pet - sitting, anything relevant and productive to his life outside of school .
My kiddo hasn't worked before but we used a resume template.
We had the basics with;
Name
Address
Email
Phone
Objective or goals.
Education
Work experience
Hobbies
Availability.
