Do I go back to my old job!
I recently left a job in banking i he for nearly 4 years . It was customer service based & ok. I worked in a good team and had pretty good conditions, wfh , bonuses etc
.But I wanted a change and moved to admin for a car dealership. The issue is I don’t like it! It’s not what I expected . The training is terrible , very old computer systems , a lot of manual data entry & not very satisfying. I can’t see any development and I work on my own a lot . The boss is ok but very tight with money . I have heard pay rises are rare. The work is closer to home & I took a slight pay cut to take this job . The people are ok but I really miss my old team & even the job itself was better albeit a few issues here & there but overall it was much better than this . I have the opportunity to go back to the same role & maybe apply for a supervisory role . Do I go back or move to a whole new job ? I’ve always been a believer of not going back but am very tempted in this case.

Go back, it’s sounds like it was a good job with conditions that are hard to find.
I had a similar situation, I left a job I liked due to the amount of KM I had to travel.
Took a job close to home, slightly more money (in terms of fuel cost massive difference as well). A little less flexibility with the second job but figured I’d work around that if it come up.
Well….. I lasted 4 weeks at that second job, cried within 2 days and all days moving forward. Lack of training, not what I expected and felt like I was walking into hell each day.
I quit on the day, walked in and burst in tears before I even started that shift. Went right to manger office and said I quit and walked out 15mins later (still in tears) they deducted a weeks pay from my fortnight’s wage and it was the best $589 I ever lost 😂
6 weeks later, went back to my old job and haven’t cried once (but still hating the km I have to travel) 😂
Go back to your 1st job and apply to be the supervisor you know you can be ❤️
Go back. You’re unhappy in this place and things like computer systems and staffing isn’t going to change any time soon.
You’ll probably still want to move on from your other job but you’ll be happier to stay there while you search. Use the comfort to take the time to be more discerning next time.
