Looking for personal experiences/ any side effects with getting tubes tied? Good, bad and ugly x
I'm married, 27 and have 2 beautiful girls aged 3.7 years and 1.8 years. Both pregnancy's were painful and difficult and we both feel like we are 100% happy and content with family of 4.
I've done my research and feel like getting my tubes tied is my best/ favourite option.
Any and all comments are helpful, thank you so much mummas!

You're Welcome
I've been on the waiting list to get my tunes tied since I was 26, I'm now 32. I've jumped up and down so many times and sent in so many referrals and still haven't got a call back from the hospital about it. I kept getting lectures about how it's expensive to reverse and I might want more kids, I don't! I have 2 kids, my partner has 3! I've been pregnant 8 times despite using numerous birth control meathods from the pill, condoms to the IUD and Implanon and still nothing works completely, the iud gave me an eptopic pregnancy and countless infections. Now I go to the doctors ever 12 weeks and get the depoprovera injection which cost $22.50 every time, but the doctors keep telling me to have brakes on the depoprovera because it's not really the healthiest option for you but I don't want more kids and I fall pregnant if someone looks my way.
If you are going to get your tunes tied try the private sector rather than public because you could be waiting a while for it.
If you can afford it, go for it. I’ve had mine done, and really happy with my decision. However nothing is 100% protective against pregnancy, and ectopic pregnancies are a real risk.
Long term hormonal contraceptives are just as effective, I just can’t use them because they make me very unwell.
Some people get there tubes tied and end up on hormonal contraceptives anyway, because they realise there period is hard to handle (cause no longer being controlled by hormonal contraceptives).
It can be hard convincing a doctor it’s the best thing for you. In my case multiple confirmed bad reactions to other methods and a very high needs child pushed me over the line.
I'd do some research on post tubal ligation syndrome before you bite the bullet. It's worth a read and not widely known about.
Extremely rare. Infact so rare it's known as a phenomenon. Not even worth the space it's written on .
Tell your partner to get the snip. Way less invasive.
You also have to think about further into the future. A lot of the answers I've seen have been after only a handful of years. My mum got super heavy periods like flooding out of her no pad or tampon could contain it. This caused life long iron issues which meant she was always exhausted and depressed. The lack of iron caused other health issues. She also suffered from many issues related to hormonal imbalances and when she reached menopause those hormonal imbalances made menopause hell on earth. It's just something to consider as well.
