Just a quick question about family tax benefit.
My kiddo just got a job, which is brilliant. We are a single parent family who receives child support, ftb and I work. I have received newstart before.
Would my kiddos new job affect FTB? I've noticed in the last fortnight it has.
My kiddo hasn't started at (x) job yet, but (x) has told (x's) father. (X) didn't want to, but I suggested that (x) dad would be excited about this and (x) should be proud to share this with him.
Dad was excited and I was thrilled.
However, dad has in the past reported things to Centelink
& child support which are not true just to cause trouble and control finances. It got so bad at one point, I needed to put a password on all government accounts to protect privacy. He sees no issue lying but demands 100% transparency from me at all times.
I've just learnt to accept domestic violence never ends.
Any ideas about why FTB went from $260 to $180?
I'm not fussed but it'll help knowing before I call them.
PS (X) I've done this deliberately to protect myself and hide my child's age/gender a little more because I'm paranoid.

Is FTB based on age and is just a coincidence they've hit that age around the same time as they've got their job?
I've never heard of anyone having to report kids incomes...
I think from 16 they need to still be attending school full time for FTB to continue.
You do have to let them know when they start working but usually kids don't earn a lot for it to really affect anything. They have to be working 40 hours a week for a year to be considered independent for youth allowance so you would think the same rules would apply for all of it but probably not unless it's in their favour. Just ring them and find out.
Since when does a teenager working affect FTB? Call Centrelink and ask what’s going on. You should have received a letter, either in the mail or in your myGov inbox, letting you know your payment rate is changing and what might affect the amount you receive. Mine generally only changes if there’s a change to my child support amount. But in saying that, I did notify them last week that my eldest has now completed grade 12 so now I’m only receiving for my youngest from next week.
No but my ftb was recently recalculated, so might just be the timing. Check your emails, they explain the calculation
Not helpful around the FTB thing but you are correct DV never ends, they never stop. I understand 💗
