Jon network issues

Has your job network case worker ever ignore your disabilities...
I'm disabled fighting for a pension with the aid of my local member. Iv been placed with a disability job network, they do however take on fully abled.
Knowing I can't walk OR stand for long periods, or lift my arms past waist hight (holding a can of coke with my right arm is painful) I was made to Walk the streets with them, For 2 hrs, cold canvusing, with out worning. They told me they had lined up a job interview and we'd walk to it... across the road from my job network. There was no job interview at all, the owner had already told them they had no jobs over the phone several times.... but my case worker wouldn't shut up, kept pushing and pushing until the owner pretended to get a phone call and just walked off.
I was then walked around town, limping, in pain, while my case worker hassled small boutiques, clearly pissing off owners who made it quite clear they had already hired or were not able too take on staff.
They keep putting my resume in for jobs I can't physically do, that require 8hr days heavy lifting, standing.... I can't do that shit. I need help getting dressed, how do they expect me to do these jobs. I have to shower after using the bathroom at time because I can't twist to tend to myself.
My case worker never used to be like this, but the compassion is gone. My BIL also has this case worker. Hr is starting up his own business and is quickly gaining a customer base....trying to talk him out of trying, because he currently isn't earning enough in their eyes, even though he meets his hrs +more.... he's a new small business, and he also works casually for a contract company.

There's someone above this caseworker pushing them to make kpi's. It sounds like they have been your caseworker for some time, and that doesn't look good. Your caseworker seems desperate if they're personally walking the streets with you for hours asking businesses to hire you. Unfortunately, this is a no win situation for all.

Regarding your brother, its all good and well that he has a small business and profiting from it, but on paper at his job network and centrelink, it looks like he's earning nothing, and in return receives government assistance when he doesn't require it. To get that assistance, he's required to fulfil obligations like everyone else. The caseworker is doing their job

Do you have a doctor's report supporting what you're telling them about your disabilities?
Someone close to me has severe congenital physical disabilities (cerebal palsy) and the job network have been very accommodating in finding them suitable work.
If you're honest, they gave you warning, you wrote a post on here about their intention to do this.
If your BIL is doing so well, he can stop receiving payments and then he will never hear from them again.
Until he can support himself financially, they will try to find him a job that will enable him to do so.
Most of us who start businesses, it is usually done as a side hustle, whilst we have our full time job to cover our living costs.
It is not the government's job to finance this because some new businesses take years to make a profit and sadly some don't make it.

Stop making excuses and get a job! I sound horrible but gee I have to listen to reasons why people can't work all the time and it gets old. You DID walk, you're not disabled just because you got tired. I'm sure you can raise your arms above your waist. We all have our own problems but most of us HAVE to push through it and work. At least go and study for a job that you can sit at, change your skills instead of complaining about disability.

I know someone who claims to be disabled and doesn't work yet she makes cosplay costumes! Like seriously 🙄 she can do hours of sewing and making the costumes and attend all these Comic Cons walking around taking lots of photos for hours but can't do a simple reception or cashier job a few hours a day? I don't buy it.

A family member of mine was still applying for jobs and cold canvassing while in prodromal and full blown psychosis, not very well mind you but the intention was there. I don't think having a disability is the problem here

Exactly, I've worked with people in hospitality who probably shouldn't be working but they have no choice or it keeps them sane. Like a lady in her 60's at my last job who suffered ongoing back pain from a car accident 10 years earlier but still powered through being on her feet all day. None of us were really happy that she was putting herself through that but she didn't want to learn anything else at her age, it was all she knew and she had about 3 years off after the accident which drove her into a deep depression, then her husband died and she said she couldn't just stay home and not do anything anymore she would end up dead, she truly was scared to not work 😭

I have a few things going on with me.

Epilepsy.
Conductive hearing loss.
Avoidant Personality Disorder.
ASD.
ADHD.

I went to a school that specialises in learning disabilities and behavioural problems. All this is documented.

I fought hard and long to not be labelled.

As I've gotten older, I developed issues with my feet (bursitis
) and additional neurological problems. (3 brain cysts.)

Yet, I still went on to get some qualifications and work.

I do have a disability network provider BUT they are only there in supportive role and hate it when I don't ask for help. I keep in touch because it's routine and I need that.

I struggle every day. Yet the OP isn't doing anything in terms of explaining how she copes apart from "I have to shower after I go to the bathroom because I can't wipe myself."

Girl, if you need carers, you have documented evidence of your capacity to work. Build your strengths up and adjust your attitude. The case worker is doing her job.

I have a dear friend who is an employment consultant, I don't think you may realise the pressure they are under.
The consultants are the frontline workers, they wear the shit (figuratively speaking) that trickles down from the federal government who allocate funding and create the rules for welfare payments.

That's not even considering the crap and blatant abuse they get from people who simply don't want to work or don't think mutual obligations apply to then. My friend has been spat on, sworn at regularly, threatened...

So yeah, they push people to work because it's their job.

If you genuinely feel like you've been treated unreasonably or in some way discriminated against, make a complaint and request a new consultant! This is at least the second time you've been here to whinge about it, indont mean to be rude but what exactly does that solve?

It’s the system, it’s all paperwork. I remember them having to get me a job while I was pregnant and about to graduate uni, none of that matters because on paper if Centrelink says you have to jump the hoops then you have to.
So you need to get your paperwork for disability sorted and get your disability pension sorted. If you can’t get that, then you will need to keep dealing with job networks - the best thing to do is to find something you can do and tick the boxes. even with an understanding of your abilities they’re not really renowned for being an kind of appropriate help.
