Very young menopause

Very young menopause

I posted a couple of weeks ago asking about experience with early menopause as I have not had a period in about 8 months now. I am only 40 years old. I also had a cyst and was a bit worried..

I thought I'd give an update.

Some women suggested it was due to vaccine, however the studies done only identify that women would miss a period or two, or have odd cycle for couple months and then return to normal. There is not ant cases of women's period completely stopping permanently due to coved vaccine.

Other women dismissed early menopause as I am incredibly young....

I've had a weight gain in last 2 years of about 15 kilos, which was weird for me but I had put it down to lock down and working from home. Funny thing is, after year of being back at work, the weight is still hanging around. I've had no other symptoms.

I also found out my mother went through early menopause I'm early 40s and had minimal symptoms.

The official news is,

The cyst is gone... awesome news!

My blood tests continue to show that my hormone levels are all consistent with menopause.

Still no period for 8 months and the weight gain over last 2 years...

Internal and external testing showed no abnormalities, everything looks healthy and fine.

My Dr has stated, another 4 months and I am officially in menopause. I will be 41 years old then.

I mostly share this for any woman who thinks early 40s is too young for menopause.
I felt dismissed by women however it does turn out, it's exactly what is going on for me.

Yep, I am young, and I am peri menopause. It's real....

I'm glad you found out what it was and it's nothing too serious (meaning cancer, menopause can be serious for some so I'm not trying to minimize that). I did say menopause on your original post and was surprised to see others say you were too young. Maybe they are in denial as they're nearing that age and don't want to think about it yet lol. I'm 42 and still get a regular period but I've noticed my cycle getting longer the last 12 months, I used to have a 30 day cycle and now it's more 32,33 days.

I’m a little unusual. I’m 48 and not in peri menopause. I have something wrong with my endocrine system. I failed to enter puberty, and was given hormonal therapy at 19 to kick start my pituitary gland and bring on puberty. It lead to short stature and looking a lot younger than I am. I may not enter menopause naturally either.

Thank you! I thought I'd share outcome as I guess it is real and women shouldn't be dismissing each other, although not common, turns out it's real.

I did notice over past couple year my period was lighter and lasted only sometimes couple to few days but I just like everyone thought I am too young and just aging lol

It's important we all know we are all different and experience menopause differently. I've had no other symptoms, no discomfort, nothing, whereas some women will have symptoms for 10 years and need medication.

I've learned most likely, my early menopause is genetics and I can ensure my daughter is also aware for herself in the future.

I appreciate the kind words from you

I’m so glad you have your answer.
I’m sorry you were made to feel dismissed.
I know what it is like to be young with what others perceive as an older persons issue.

I hope menopause is kind to you 🥰
More importantly, i hope you are kind to you 💜

Thank you. I've been researching and realise I've had more symptoms than I realised. I never put them all together and realised it could be peri menopause...
But all makes sense now.
Women don't talk about it really, and especially at 40... it's really highlighted to me how uneducated I was about this all, but I am learning now.

On the plus side, no more periods for me!!! Lol

Thanks for support, I really appreciate it xo

Really glad you found out what it is. I was one of those that said menopause was definitely possible!
I had one friend go through menopause extremely early and runs early in my family too.

Thank you. I think I felt really uneducated on it all, but I see so much more clearer now and makes sense.
If in your family too then I'd dare say like me, you have high chance of early menopause too. I found a sheet on peri menopause which I realised I have a number of symptoms besides the obvious no period. It even noted most women dismiss the symptoms as they don't put them together and realise what's happening. We usually only notice when period stops or our cycle is irregular enough for concern.
I think it just bothered me some of comments and I guess some women go through it for years and have a really hard time but for me it's been fairly non eventful and I didn't even notice.
I just wanted to share that it's real and a thing and can happen young with little symptoms.
Genetics play big role apparently.
Thank you for your post.

I'll be in it at 41, I expected mid 40s but shocked over fact I am only 40 and almost considered in menopause.
I had my daughter young and she is now 21 so I was prob done having children but still came as shock as I was completely unprepared for this stage just yet....
The bonus, no periods. It's been 8 mths already with nothing so I must say that part is AWESOME lol
