Super funds for kids

Super funds for kids

My young daughter is in need of a superannuation fund for her work. Those of you with young children under 12, who need a superannuation for work.can you please recommend any good ones for me. I believe currently her past contributions have gone to one, which I need to find. I would like to set one up for her based on what is best for her future. It’s hard to find much information on super for kids under 14 and what is best long term. Any recommendations would be fantastic!
Thanks in advance

The OP asked for help for a simple question - there ARE plenty of children who work in entertainment etc who work during school term and school holidays. There is no minimum age for kids working in a family business and no one is harking back to the days of child labour.

someone asks a question about super and the Karen’s on here make it about something else, when they don’t even know what they are talking about. many child actors , singers, dancers, models who would get paid. Why shouldn’t they get super? It’s a genuine question. Op wasn’t asking about hours. My kids have done extra work and have been asked for their super details no biggie.

I know, right?? So what, kids earning an income shouldn't get super?? Some times people jump to conclusions without any information at all.

My 10yo cannot wait to work. He's begging to start earning $$ lol

Omg this is hilarious! People presume this kid works 40 hours a week.

I am the op and most of these responses are way off the topic and completely false. Thanks to those for your support and using common sense.

Why not ask the people who are in the industry with your child? Surely there are other children with parents you could ask, or any one of the professionals you or your child deals with. If they're in the business of children working, then they should know the rules around child labour and be able to tell you and be completely transparent, if not, run and protect your child!!

This post wasn’t about child labour 🤣 How stupid are some of these responses.

Wait, so if this post isn't about a child working (child labour), why is it asking about super funds for children? Isn't that implying it's child labour not adult labour???

As an adult, I would not work for anyone who couldn't be open and transparent with things like super. I certainly wouldn't have my children working for anyone like that either. The amount of horror stories that come from adults who worked as children is mortifying.

Super comes from working, this post is exactly about a child working. To expect different responses is a bit embarrassing on your part

yes about a child working with in the laws of Australia. This post was asking about super and nothing to do with the hours worked.? It’s the trolls who replied, who brought that into it. So not this post isn’t embarrassing. The only embarrassing thing is the people who jumped on and trolled this post with their presuming the child works 40 hours a week, thanks to them using Google. Anyone can get super at any age. So many fools, who had their say who know nothing about it.

To expect different answers 🤦🏼‍♀️She asked about super funds. Only a few answered the actual question. Who gives a shit if her kid works? It’s no one’s business, except the parents. If you can’t answer the question with the answer then don’t.

Protect her child? This post is clearly about super and nothing to do with rules and laws. These industries are very strict. I am sure OP would know. These comments😂

Op here. This was very straight forward and I have set one up now, thanks to a lovely person who replied on here. As for the rest of you who presume you knew, you don’t. It was quite strange reading these comments, where you were all so far off and brought child labour into it. My daughter does not work any of these hours that you all ran with and she is very well looked after in a safe and regulated industry. Did anyone stop and think that just maybe her employer, wants to contribute to her superannuation for her future.? No matter the hours she may work, she is entitled to accept her super contribution. for her future, please stop and think before replying. You can also Google what you like but it doesn’t mean it’s correct for the individual circumstances. This was a simple super question. If I knew where I could delete my post, I would have.

Have people gone nuts!! What in the world is going on here that someone asks a simple question and people somehow start going on about something completely irrelevant just to start an argument!

To the OP, I would stay away from CFS as it was taken over and the group that took over had prior legal action taken against them.

Cannot recommend another as I am looking to change also.

Finally someone with a brain, who is kind and respectful. Thanks for your reply. I am actually dumbfounded that people have responded in such a way. I never asked how many hours my daughter could work and all the rest of the garbage. I well and truly know the laws. I am my daughters protector, like any mother should be. My simple superannuation question turned into a shit show, from some vile and bitter people.

Super funds have monthly costs. The amount going in needs to be more than what's being taken out monthly for it to build. If your child is not working that often, maybe it is better to put a percentage of her income into an interest building account for when she is older?

I'm pretty sure there was a legislation change where balances under 6,000 are protected with a fee cap, for that very reason.
Op could also look at investment bonds, if they are held for ten years, they become tax free.
However, the contribution amount each year is capped at 125% of last years.
You can also start with pretty small balances I believe.

I'm just curious why the OP doesn't clarify things to stop all the questions?

Why would she when trolls have responded like this over a question. bored bitches.

I'm curious too lol I can't imagine attacking people and getting aggressively defensive when asked to clarify some simple info for context 😬 Noone asked for the childs name and dob 😂

Why should she though? It was the op getting attacked here. She didn’t need to clarify anything. Her daughter gets super so what? She was asking for a question. Plenty of kids get super believe it or not.

I agree!! She had approx 80 comments before she did a massive delete by the looks of things.

This poor mum was basically accused of child slave labour and yet there was not one thing to suggest this.

Also why should she clarify anything. As soon as she tried to defend herself the accusations just got worse! She asked a question, some actually answered without attacking her.

The employer would have one they use if employees don't give one, just use that as that is going to be the best one for her industry she can change it when she's older. But also make sure it's one that doesn't charge fees for low amounts as she wouldn't be getting a lot of super at her age, they need to work over 30 hours a week to get paid super and over $450 a month together.

I'm pretty sure they are changing legislation around the 450 per month as well, for fairness to casual workers.
Don't think it has been passed through parliament yet, but pretty sure it was a budget promise.
