Hi ladies,
I am just hoping to see if anyone has had this experience as I am worrying myself slightly..
I am a 40 year old. My last period was April, nothing since. I am not in a relationship and have not had any 'relations' with a guy for a number of years, so I can't be pregnant.
I went to Dr, who ordered blood test and internal ultrasound. The blood test results lead to Dr questioning if I could be pregnant as a pregnancy hormone was high? She asked me to repeat it, which I did and again came back I am pregnant lol
The internal ultrasound identified a cyst, and I am booked for follow up scan in 2 weeks, Dr said it should dissolve with period, but obviously still no period and I am doubtful it's gone.
I've never had cysts or womanly issues like this and it's now 6 months no period...
Dr said it could be perimenopause but I am worried my lack of period is because of the cyst....
Has anyone had any experience like this? I am seeing Dr and doing as I am told in terms of scans and tests but thought I would ask you all and see if this is maybe a common womanly issue???
Thanks in advance ladies

Ask for a referral to a gynaecologist, especially if it is still there at the next scan. They have more knowledge about female issues than the average GP.
Well, you should see a new Dr because that is menopause. Menopausal women will have enough HCG in their system to read a positive pregnancy test. Even if I'm wrong and it's not menopause see a different doctor because she literally told you your period will dissolve a cyst when you haven't been getting a period so she clearly is not listening to you. See another doctor.
It can take a few goes to work out what’s going on, but yeah, an appointment with a gyno sounds on the cards. It sounds like early menopause, but because of your age it’s important to rule out other possible causes.
Sounds like PCOS. I had a cyst in my uterus. I was in agony one day, went to hospital and did a pregnancy test, positive..... they thought ectopic. Did a scan. 6 on my left, uncountable cluster in my right and 1 in my uterus. I hadn't had a period in 10 weeks, but having PCOS, that wasn't ununusual. The 1 in my uterus had ruptured and was giving off pregnancy hormone
I've never had PCOS or any issues ever and I am not in any pain at all. It's really weird, no paid, no issues down there other than no period. They only found one cyst too so not sure that it can be PCOS?
Bit early at 40 to be menopausal, plus it doesn't happen like that, it's a gradual increase in periods followed by a gradual decline of periods and it happens over years, not an immediate 6 month stop at 40 yrs old when you've had no other symptoms
It's called perimenapause and does happen. I have has decreased in periods , lighter periods and barely any period in the year or two leading into this. My mother also went through early menopause so Dr has said it is very possible.
As for symptoms, I do have other symptoms but I have not been sure on whether they link to this or other stuff that is going on for me.
I'll hopefully soon find out anyway what is going on with the second scan.
Mate, I'm 50 years old and in full menopause I've never known anyone at 40 to have early onset peri meni , including myself, but unless it's something medical, then it might happen for some. Mine were blood - shot heavy and scattered and painful for 12 months b4 diminishing to nothing. All of my friends have had theirs this way too, but ppl are different. They also have severe night sweats and weight gain. I didn't have these .
I’m peri menopausal at 43 and have been for two years. Still having regular periods, although they are starting to become lighter. Have had plenty of the other symptoms, though.
I'm 42 and cycle getting longer, only symptom I have but I think it's coming soon. I did read about the signs and menopause can happen at any age once fully matured but obviously more common the older you get with the most common age late 40's to 50's. If you were unlucky enough to get your period younger than 11 then apparently you are probably going to hit menopause early. Everyone's different there's no textbook answer.
Early menopause is definitely a thing. My friends period stopped in her mid 30s and not due to contraceptives. It just stopped.
My mum was early 40s, my sister early 40s. I’ve been having perimenopause symptoms since my early 40s but still dragging on for me.
