I'm 35, 3 children, always had 20/20 vision. A few months ago I started getting headaches almost daily and my long range vision on my left eye became blurry. I started getting dizzy/vertigo now and then. So I went to an optometrist did an eye test and got a prescription for single lens glasses. I figured the headaches and dizziness was due to my vision. My glasses haven't arrived yet but yesterday I had a headache that lasted all day and when I woke up this morning the near sight in my right eye was blurry all of a sudden and still is.
If I had any underlying issues with my eye health it would have been picked up on during the eye test right?
Is this normal or common? Will a gp just send me back to the optometrist again?
Any similar experiences?

Go to the Dr!
Please go to the doctor and don't let them palm you off to an optometrist again.
An occasional headache is probably not cause for concern and deterioration of vision can be normal with age but sudden onset of headaches and vision problems (particularly if it's isolated to one eye and glasses havent relived the issue) - that needs thorough investigation.
As someone who's been through this, I would expect an MRI followed by a neurologist referral and an ophthalmologist referal.
Best of luck.
Agreed, this sounds like it might be optic neuritis or something
You should definitely go to the doctor
Migraines can cause blurry vision too
Recently went to an optometrist for similar issues, prescribed glasses(nothing new) had a persistent stomach ache, went to doctors….
Eye test did not pick anything up
High blood sugar
Sugar is getting sorted and vision is much better
Go to ED.
This is an emergency so if you're in a major city, go to an eye, ear and nose ED hospital.
An optometrist will not usually find any underlying issues, I had a similar experience and found out through my gp that it is (in my case) related to diabetes, when I have a high my vision goes blurry... your gp will need to do a series of blood test to find the issue.
