Im wanting to take my kids overseas but we can't get their fathers signature. Long story short we left 10 years ago and haven't seen him since, it was a dv situation, I still see his family he is in and out of psych hospitals and homeless the rest of the time, his family doesn't know how to contact him. Is there a way that we can get my kids passports without his signature?

Yes there is, I haven't done it but know people who have. I'm not sure of the exact process but if you discuss it with who is doing the application they will be able to tell you. I think it's a stat Dec and proof you've tried to track him down, ie copies of messages to family.
