Help with being so highly strung all the time

I am the opposite of calm. I am a highly strung ball of stress that is always on edge. I’ve been this way as long as I can remember. My father and sister are exactly the same. I’ve done the whole therapy thing but I feel that it was not helpful to me. I take medication for anxiety - have tried many different ones and I find the one I’m on is the best. The smallest things stress me out and I feel like I am constantly on edge. I would like to learn ways on how to handle this and I really want to change. It doesn’t feel nice, it’s exhausting to be honest and I want to enjoy my time with my husband and children rather than being a ball of stress. It’s like no matter how hard I try not to be this person, it never seems to get better.

Try alternative therapies? Massages, yoga, meditation. I found mindfulness to be life changing. Also are you in counselling? If not then definitely get yourself booked in

What works for me is pumping iron. I feel so much calmer after I’ve been to the gym. I go three times a week for an hour.

Agitation. This is me. I’m just a stress head for no reason. I do believe it’s hereditary. I also am worse when I am in pain with my medical conditions. Dr did put me on citalopram which takes the edge off for me. I wish I could be calm, relaxed and enjoy each day without this stress and agitation it’s awful. My kids feel it and so does my husband.
