Rents in NSW

How much has everyone’s rent gone up over the last 12-18 months? My landlord is wanting to increase ours by $60 a week. The contract is now finished and we are paying week to week. Does anyone know of there is limit of increase ?

On a periodic agreement in NSW rent can be increased only once in 12 months with a 60 day written notice. No limit of increase, but if you feel it is too high then you can a - negotiate or b- go to the tribunal with evidence of why you think it is too high. Google fair trading and read the rules.

And remember on a periodic agreement landlord can end your agreement without reason, they have to give 90days for no reason, you have to give 21. If they are selling they have to give you 30 days.
