Pre menopausal or abnormal bleeding

Asking the sisterhood for their experiences. I am 41 years, 2 children both c section 12,14 years ago. Tubes tied. My questions I think I maybe pre menopausal. I have always had regular 21 day cycle my entire life, never painful. But my last period has been going for 10 days now, not heavy but enough to change twice a day… I went to the dr she wasn’t any help what so ever. I asked for hormone levels to confirm but she declined, but will do a scan but only when the bleeding stops (which who knows when that will be ) but surely they can do the scan with bleeding how else are you suppose to magically stop the bleeding. My mother went through menopause at 45 if that info is helpful.

I have changes in my sleep pattern waking up sometimes around 3/4 am…and emotional but that could be because I am sleep deprived. Changes in cycles heaviness in the last 5 years (with clots 2 days of the 6) had a scan at the time of increasing heaviness which showed nothing.

I live rurally so access to these so called gynaecologist are limited.. so please don’t just recommend one..

I am wanting to hear your experiences with the peri menopausal symptoms or why you had abnormal bleeding

As it’s just happened the once it can be hard to tell. Yes, it could be the start of a new cycle. I’m closer to 50 now and yes my cycle changed from time to time. Sometimes more frequent, sometimes heavier etc.
Hormone tests don’t really show anything during perimenopause and it did it would involve a lot of repeat testing to track changes over time.
I also found when I got fibroids my period became longer, once I had them removed it all settled down for awhile.

I don’t think the symptoms you have discribed are going to trigger much concern from a GP or gynae, 10 days of bleeding once off? Not unusual around the time of peri menopause. Not heavy bleeding- you said you only change your pad twice a day- so not much.
Checking hormones - not reliable really- just a snapshot of that day and they could be totally different tomorrow. A scan/ultrasound is not going to do anything either. Of course if you are worried go and see another GP and if you aren’t happy a gynaecologist, you won’t get answers otherwise.
