Hey everyone,
I have recently hurt myself, pretty badly actually, I have spoken to my doctor and he suggested whilst it heals to go on government support... I am so scared of what might happen if I need to rely on the government as I'm right in the middle of paying back debts... I haven't told my work yet... I absolutely love my job and deep down I know I need to do what's right for my health, however I feel so sick about this huge change. I have 2 children and right now we are comfortable and paying off debts to hopefully become debt free very soon... I know it sounds like Im all about money, but I'm actually very overwhelmed with the possibility of having a massive change happen when we are finally getting on top!

I may be wrong but I pretty sure Centrelink does not privide payments or financial support for sick leave.
If you're working you should have income protection insurance through your super. It's a pain in the arse to sort out, but if your doc thinks you may need substantial time off to heal, look into it.
Most only have the default life/TPD unless they deliberately take out IP or have special arrangements like public service workers.
