A few days ago I was driving my work car and pulled into a car park. I hit the car next to me and in total shock I drove away. I’ve never been in an accident before so 100% panicked. I parked up the street and looked at my car to see paint damage. I drove back to the car I hit and saw no damage. Again, being in a total state - I just drove off. I again pulled over up the road, and after I had calmed down I realised I should have left details despite seemingly no damage so drove back but the car had gone :(
I told work , sent pictures etc, but was so worried about getting into trouble for driving off that I told them a slightly different version. That I thought I had stopped just in time and didn’t realise I’d hit the car until after etc I asked if I was going to get into trouble and work said no.
However I’m now being eaten up with anxiety/guilt. Im so so SO annoyed with myself for what I did. Im aware there may have been cameras, witnesses etc but I can’t change that now. If there were witnesses and cameras would I go to jail?
Please I’m begging to be kind. I’m a mess already.

No you won’t go to jail. They wouldn’t even know who did it and these things happen every single day. You did the right things going back. If they knew it was you, they would have called you by now. You said there was no Damage on the car, it’s fine. You need to stop over thinking now and try to forget about it. People don’t go to jail for way more than this. This is nothing. Look at the real scum walking out streets who have vomited serious crimes, who don’t deserve to be free. They aren’t even in jail. Jail wouldn’t even come into mind in court for such an innocent thing. You aren’t. Criminal. You didn’t hurt anyone. Try and let it go now and focus on something happy, healthy and positive else anxiety and guilt will eat you up.
Commited serious crimes..
Car parks are not covered by road rules as they are usually private property or owned by the council. So you won't go to jail for driving off.
It doesn’t matter where you are, the same blanket rules apply for things like this!
No it really doesn't, try and call the cops because someone hit your car in a car park. They don't want to know about it even when there is damage.
What? Who the heck calls the cops and wastes their time for a slight bingle in a car park? Seems a bit over the top.
Lots of people do. My point was that she has not broken the law, well not enough to be charged, so no jail. Even if you could be charged you wouldn't go to jail for this lol.

You already know it's a shitty thing to do, imagine if you parked somewhere, a car hit you and left? Visible damage isn't the only damage that can be done. I had a car reverse into my Datto with significant visual damage but no structural damage, I had another gently bump me from behind in my Commodore with barely a visual scratch but had compromised that part of my structural crumple zone underneath. The plastic had popped back out straight away so it wasn't known until the bumper was pulled off.
What's done is done, no you'll never go to jail for a carpark scrape. But next time (if there is one). Stop. Breathe. Leave your details under their wiper. Just in case.
there is absolutely no way, not even the slightest possibility that you could go to jail for this, none, nadda, nothing.
take the lesson you learnt from this and please move on, don't let this eat you up.
if you feel like you have to give back in someway for redemption, make a donation, volunteer somehere, pay for someone's maccas next time you're there and then, close this chapter x
Lol, no .
Hit and run relates to people. You could get charged with leaving the scene of accident but it's likely a fine or some points... definitely not jail. It was a bingle, nothing more
I’ve grown up in a police household.. answer is no. Not jail if they found damage and chased up cameras etc and happened to find out it was you it would be an insurance issue no charge or involvement from police… I’f you hit a person another story but car damage falls under insurance claim-
Police would be involved if a report was needed or stat dec but in terms of charging or anything against you or record wise no not for that
Hope that helps our mind at ease
