Teachers and parents! It’s report time.
Is it normal for a child in year 3 to go from getting mostly “thorough” with a few “extensive” thrown in at the end of last year to this semester getting all “Sound” with a few “thorough”.
I understand that this is still a good report my concern is that there is a significant drop there.
We are also having ongoing episodes of him not wanting to go to school anymore when he previously had loved school and had wanted to attend 7 days a week if he could. I have spoken to the school on 3 occasions around this sudden change - we seem to be told they will action this and that and then nothing occurs..

Some teachers purposely grade on the lower end of a child's level on the first semester report then on the higher end on the second semester so it looks like the child has improved and you think it's the teacher. This came from my kids school principal.
It seems in line with his attitude towards school. I guess the question is why? What’s changed?
His teacher. He doesn’t feel like she likes him. He feels like she thinks he is a liar (when ever he reports some behaviour towards him he doesn’t like she questions everyone around him to confirm what happened, however when someone accuses him he is I trouble without the benefit of having those around him questioned). And she spent the first term constantly shaming his appearance- constantly telling him he needs a hair cut and constantly asking in front of the class when he was getting a hair cut (even though his hair was within school policy).
He has never had any issue with his 3 previous teachers he is generally a people pleaser and strives to do his best.
That’s really sad. That report greatly supports your cause though when you go to school and demand a change for him because you’re watching his love of school, his connection to school and his grades slipping away.
It’s killing me. His confidence within himself has taken a massive hit.
I have parent teacher interview on Monday - I’m predicting it will be another “covid” excuse. Even though his teacher last year wrote a glowing comment to the affect that he had returned from the disruption ready and excited to learn.
