Dental implants.

Hey all, just wondering if anyone could send some advice on dental implants / procedure.
Super quick run down, had the option for crown or implant (or nothing obviously) but the teeth beside are both healthy and even though the dentist could straighten them better with a crown and being cheaper, I dont want to unnecessarily wreck 2 other teeth, I've seen some filthy looking crowns, So implant it is,
Is the procedure, tooth out, heal time, implant in with surgery, heal time, implant put in place?
