Has anyone experienced changes to their period since having COVID? I asked my Dr but he fobbed it off and said changes were "more likely because of my age" suggesting I may be peri menopausal. I am 45 and my periods have always been pretty clockwork.

I'm 37 and my periods are always regular and I track them to keep an eye on them... this last month I had no period at all which seemed strange, I've never had this... I had covid around 2 months ago and there is absolutely 100% no chance I'm pregnant as I haven't slept with anyone in years.. I googled it and apparently it's normal to miss one every now and then so I didnt think much more about it, but now that you have mentioned it... hmmm.. I do remember reading a while back about the vaccine having an effect on women's cycles...??!
Yes, if your immune system is lower or you are extra stressed sometimes you can miss a period. Not sure of the numbers being reported but I do know this is something some women are experiencing post vaccine.
The onset of peri menopause could very well have just coincided with having covid, it's definitely a plausible explanation given your age (all the women in my mums side of the family began peri menopause in their late 30s).
Your periods can definitely be thrown out of whack after being sick as well though (that's not even specific to covid). If your immune system has taken a hit it can take a while for your body to get back to 100% normal.
There was a post not long ago about this! I thought the correlation was a bit crazy so I didn't think much of it but might pay to search it on the website and see?
I am same age and had Covid and wished mine would give me a break but no, still as regular as clockwork. I will warn you though I know several women who have had the vaccination change their cycle. I have even had one woman say that a Specialist acknowledge this is something he had been seeing occur.
I just read on health line that this is getting studied, many women have reported delayed cycle or changes in flow. Any illness can cause it apparently as a way of letting the body put its energy into healing which makes perfect sense. The vaccine seems to cause changes too but differently, causing heavy periods.
Not since COVID but ever since the COVID vax I’ve had issues. After the vax I got it and I wasn’t due, usually it lasts 5 days I had it for 10. I’m on the pill and now my period just comes whenever it wants even when I’m not due and period pain has been much worse, I’m in early 30’s.
I had some weird stuff post Covid. I didn’t have a period for the 3 months following, to the point where I was becoming quite concerned. I’m 35 so a bit early for pre menopause.
Also found over the summer I was getting attached by mozzies and those sites were becoming infected.
Then a staph infection from an old scab!
The old immune system certainly took a battering! There’s also a high incidence of Covid triggering auto immune responses and diseases, and although these responses can be triggered by any kind of illness- there are a higher incidence of Covid kicking them off. Whether that has to do with the vast number of cases or the illness itself is another question.
Had mine during covid, was extra painful and went a little longer than normal. I am due for another soon so we will see if it makes a difference
