Embarrassing - Sanitary Pads

Sanitary Pads - embarrassing to admit but I can not figure out after all these years which direction I am supposed to put them on. The bigger area at back or front. I feel embarrassed but noone ever had this conversation with me and it isn't clear. I wish they would put arrows on them so I know which way is front and which way is back. It's something I do not want to confuse my daughters with either. Please help.

It depends on your flow

Ive figured out the regular, super, overnight etc. but even this took time to figure out as I had no idea. Just not spoken about in my home growing up.

It's not just about the heaviness but also where it comes out the most as everyone is different. You have to try both ways and see which one suits you better. Sometimes the big part at the back suits me better but other times it's the opposite.

Interesting, thank you for helping x

I think they're designed with the intention that the wider part goes towards the back of the underwear but it really comes down to your preference, comfort and where you need more protection. So no right or wrong way really!

Please don’t feel embarrassed. I was never taught either. I was never taught how to put on a bra, or fit a bra properly. It wasn’t until i was in a proper bra shop that a lady taught me (i was 24).

Thank you x Same with this also and shaving etc. Mother did not talk about these things. It was almost an embarrassing thing to mention. I've made sure to be more open with my daughters but I'm still navigating it all myself. I guess feeling embarrassed due to my age and still not knowing 😞

I’ll one up you for embarrassing to make you feel better lol

I started using tampons at 13 and had no idea what to do and thought you put them horizontal and clench to stop them falling
2 years of hating wearing a pad and a tampon and I read the leaflet one day and realised what I was doing wrong.
I had NO idea about where things are down there and my mum never spoke to me about anything period or sex related.

Im making sure my kids will have all the knowledge before they hit puberty

I never knew I had a "hole" until I read tampon instructions! Crazy. My Mum never told me anything and they never went through anatamy in grade 6 when I got my period. So I also thought they weirdly went on the outside lol.

I always thought I had to remove the tampon to pee or it would fill up with urine 😂 also if it helps in grade 8 I didn’t even know deodorant went under your arms I thought you sprayed it across your chest 🫣

I understand and relate to this question - I always wonder how we are supposed to just "know" with no arrows or clear direction. I wear Libra pads exclusively and the ones I wear have a little almost heart shape thingy embossed into the part that I assume is supposed to point to the front.

I love that you asked! So many wouldn’t be brave to. Like me! I assumed the wife but was for the back but honestly I need to wear it at the front cause of the way my body sends the flow.
Thank you for being brave enough to ask

I think it depends on the brand. I use libra, and the way I put them is the little heart looking part at the front and the wider section at the back.
And the placement on your undies is each to their own as some have a flow heavier towards the back and others towards the front.

Girl, I feel ya!
I was handed a box of Panadol and a box of Tampax. At 13.
It's so wrong this stuff was never discussed and props to you for asking the hard questions to ensure your daughters don't suffer the same fate.
