I saw a paediatrician last week due to my daughters ongoing behavioural issues. The paed stated that she believes my daughter may have autism and that she would benefit from an autism diagnosis. She did briefly state what the process involved and that it can be a long wait list but upon doing my own research I’m completely lost. So I was just wondering if anyone has any personal experience on who they went through, the price and the process and any tips and tricks please. I’m not fussed on going completely private if it cuts down the wait time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You're best off going private as the public waiting list is years long.
You'll need reports from a Speech Pathologist and Psychologist to go back to the Paediatrician to diagnose officially.
Cost is likely to be in the hundreds of dollars as you'll require a few appointments plus the cost of the reports.
You can get a rebate from Medicare for this process, speak with the Paed.
Some universities will do the assessment much cheaper because students do the testing, Australian Catholic University is one place.
