Rental viewings. Like, are my partner and I the only ones who take their shoes off at the door not to mess up the freshly shampooed carpets and polished floors....? I never wear my shoes inside, EVER....! I go in thongs or something super easy to slip off, carry them to use out the back. Every open rental in the past few months, no one else seems to care. Our town is super wet and muddy still from floods, yards are sloppy swomps. People are just walking through with muddy shoes with out a care in the world, leaving slop all over the floor with no regard. IDK, maybe I'm just bitter we are struggling to find a rental right now. But hell......! Take your shoes off people.

I think the real estate agents should enforce removing shoes. I’ve been to opens that where they’ve had an agent at the door asking people to remove shoes.
I'm not sure about this but I wouldn't be surprised if they can't ask you to remove your shoes for insurance reasons but it would be common sense to remove them if they are muddy. I would anyway. I also think they should clean the floors just before a tenant goes in anyway, it annoys me that the place gets cleaned to a high bond return standard then the agents go through, the tradies come in, 500 people to view, then don't bother getting it cleaned again for the next tenant. Sometimes they even do the bond inspection AFTER all that and get the old tenants to come back and clean it which is so dodgy. Always request you would like the floors freshly mopped before going in!
Same I was the only one slipping my things off to go upstairs. Maybe they can’t ask but I agree I think it’s rude to walk on anyones carpet in shoes.
I struggle to get my shoes off and on due to an injury (I can't wear "easy" shoes either due to said injury). A lot of people with mobility issues and invisible illnesses can also struggle with this. At open homes there's not always somewhere to sit and there's usually a crowd of people trying to use the entry.
So I don't automatically think it's disrespectful to wear shoes inside in this scenario.
I do think virtual tours should be utilised more where it may be impractical to have heaps of people passing through a property.
I've had a few open houses selling a place recently. I don't expect people to take off shoes. I just check if I need to vacuum between viewings because I want the place looking great. If we were readvertising for renters iwouldnt care.
