Hi Mummas! I have recently turned 40 (insert shock and horror here).
I have noticed in the weeks / months leading up to this that my teenage acne has made an unfortunate appearance. Also, I am steadily gaining weight (from a consistent 60kg to 70, and counting). I am not eating more, or moving less. Is this an unfortunate side effect of turning 40? My periods are becoming infrequent, and slowing down too. What can I do to help the weight gain and bad skin? Like it's not hard enough turning 40?!?

Go and request a hormone blood test to check for peri menopause or menopause asap and if they doesn’t show anything, I suggest getting your ovaries checked. Do you think maybe it could be bloating? Age should defiantly not cause this so quick because you have turned 40. Yes things seem to go to shit after 40 ( speaking from experience ) it all seems to happen once you hit 40 but usally more gradual. It could all be hormonal.speak to you Dr and request them to check your hormone levels.
It sounds hormonal. You're still young for menopause so it wouldn't say that is what happens at 40 but get yourself checked you could be in the early stages.
I was checked at 37 the Dr told me peri menopause can start around 35
I haven't noticed it at all, I'm 42 with no changes and still regular, heavy periods much to my disgust lol. I guess it's different for everyone
⬆️ Same but I am nearly 53 and wish they would hurry up and bugger off!
35 would be very young
I thought that too But the Dr told me it starts in some from that age so I was given blood tests to rule it out. Wasn’t luckily
I just turned 50 and have never looked more incredible in my life but I've worked hard to get here with subtle aesthetics, and going ketogenic . My skin has never looked better , and for exercise, I walk, have daily sex, daily yoga , pilates and 10 min handweights. I look younger than I did even 20 years ago . My hair is luxurious and extensions also help this. I weigh 30 kilos less than I did in my 30's and 40's .
I no longer get periods and it hasn't caused my body to bloat. Yet. I'm not on any medications but of course this is just how it is at the moment. No one believes I'm 50. I get told 38 at the most , 25 at the youngest, depending on what they're seeing Lol.
A great skin care routine helps too of course budget is a big issue with all of these ,, I've worked hard to get here and to stay here. It's been expensive . But I have no regrets.

Somewhere in the OP's post this commenter read TIME TO SHINE and this is the result.
Just a good old humble brag thinly veiled as helpful advice 🤣
Hahahahah
⭐️ time to shine 😂
I think you are missing the OP question here? She was asking about her issue. She wasn’t asking for you to sell yourself. I’m sure you can go make some money out of this on another forum, that’s more suitable but by the sounds of it, you already know that too..
Brag alert 🙄
Sounds like peri menopause, which can begin for up to 10 years prior to menopause. A blood test will not give an indication of peri menopause as your hormones levels fluctuate day to day and even hourly. You may need to change up your dietary/exercise habits to keep pace with what your hormones are doing. As our body changes, we need to change what we do too. Definitely see you doctor to check that nothing more sinister is going on.
