DVO court appearance

DVO court appearance

I’ve lodged a DVO and need to attend court in 3 weeks. Can I ask what happens at court? Do you bring witness’s or witness statements? Any other helpful tips?
I can’t afford legal representation and feeling overwhelmed by this.

You can speak with a duty solicitor straight up and they are really good at explaining it all. And no you don’t need witnesses or statements. Only if he tries to fight it (will not be addressed yet and will be more court dates down the track). You need to do nothing but be there. The other party needs to make a choice of 3. 1). He/she can agree to the DVO, 2). He/she can agree without admission or 3). He/she can try to fight it. If there is any proof or witnesses though I don’t like their chances of this option. Relax as chances are you won’t need to even talk in court. Duty solicitor will do that for you.
