Painful sex

Painful sex

Im finding that initially when my husband and I have sex and he thrusts his penis in me I get this overwhelming burning, sharp stinging feeling. If we go slower it eases and I enjoy it but afterward there’s a burning throbbing sensation that can last for 20 or so min after. It’s not vigorous sex or crazy positions so I don’t get it. I can liken the symptoms to thrush yet i know it’s not that as I’ve had that in the past and it’s extremely painful having sex if I have thrush, whereas this is an initial pain when thrusting. I’ll see a gynaecologist but need some advice from people who have experienced this !

Sounds like it could be friction related, I'd get a good quality water based lube and see if that helps.
Definitely see a doctor in addition to that though x

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm nearing 50 and have the same symptoms.. As we age, our bodies don't respond in the same way as they would when you're younger ... some women find it harder to get " wet" and that's I think what's happening here. You can get a pessary from your dr, it's hormone related, you insert like the thrush ones.. I use it, and it's been a godsend. Ask your doctor. :)

Sounds like vulvodynia… a medical condition that causes a burning, sharp pain when you have sex. Go see a doctor to get a proper diagnosis… but there are treatments and things you can do to make sex more comfortable… I.e. extended foreplay, lubricant and slow/gradual penetration.

Make sure you get a proper warm up lots of foreplay if your body isn't heightened enough you're tighter, also a good lube will help too

Completely different idea - before I self-diagnosed my soy intolerance, I had a lot of thrush like symptoms. So if lube isn't helping, and the gyno can't find anything, perhaps start looking at your diet for something your may be eating.
