You'd you give this a go.
Due to things I can no legally explain, my child needs councelling. Sadly where I am, all books are closed or have 12 month waiting lists, and due to high demand, no one is taking on patients from out of town or regions
Today, I spotted a local page on face book, and they do basic conciling as in coping strategies through horse care, like they do in prisons to help rehabilitate them. The goal is to build a connection through common interests, bond, and just talk about feelings/life, not so much that they have been through but teach them how to cope with such feelings. I feel this may be a great opertunity until books open and then continue with conventional mental health treatments, while keeping them in this program.
My child, who I honestly feel won't respond to a basic counceller, apsolutly LOVES horses and I honestly think, this will do her wonders.
If in my situation, would you consider this option for your child.?

Yes, equine therapy is definitely a thing and can be very successful, I would definitely give it a go
I think it could be worth considering but I would be thoroughly looking into this company first.
I'd want to know what kind of qualifications the staff hold first and foremost, I'd be interested to read reviews, that sort of thing.
It's also good to understand which professionals can administer therapies in Australia too
They work at the local hospital on the mental health word. Reviews are apsolutly off the charts posotive. They work with NDIS, and also work with the disabled and kids with criminal historyvwith a rehabilitation program. It's been a part of parole order through our local courts
They started up over a year ago when she couldn't work during COVID. She's fully insured and all horses are bomb proof. A friend who works in child welfare as a social worker said the local facs office also uses them
It sounds fabulous. I would call them right now and make an appointment :) all the best to you and your wee one mumma
And she has no staff, it's just her. One on One program
That sounds amazing, good luck.
Even without the claim of counselling its a good idea. What have you got to lose? Also if you think it will help why not consider a pet for her? It can work the same way.
We have a support pet, an inside rabbit.... Who they love.... And dogs they play with all the time
Yes!!! Would def check blue card, Workijf with children check, any quals, and stay to observe the approach they take and be critical before pushing your child into it if it’s not working
Yes I would.
Commenting as a therapist. The overall concepts can be the same and a therapist can spend a long time trying to relate to a child in an office. If this is something she already loves absolutely jump on it.
