GHD used to be but no longer. I have used the older ones that are amazing. I have a brand new one which is crap and no different to my daughters cheap Kmart on that cost $20
I think the best ones I have heard from hair dressers and friends is the cloud 9 but that is only what I have heard. Avoid the ghd.
I'm a loyal Ghd fan, but I have heard from the younger generation (teens and 20s) that cloud 9 is the now the most lusted after..I'm not sure if it's because it's the best or if it's a brand name thing though

Cloud 9- the guys that made the original GHD now make cloud9 , new ghd suck!!
