I've been on antidepressants for almost 2 months. I'm on 50mg sertraline. The doctor said I can take 100mg if needed.
Up until about 2 weeks ago it was working well. But now I feel I'm having real lows again.
I can't handle even the smallest amount of stress.
I've made another appointment with my doctor but am thinking maybe I should see a psychologist or counsellor.
If I went that route, what can I expect? I don't know why I feel this way so don't know what I would talk about.
Any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you

You would just talk about what depression is doing to you, you don't need to have a reason or event to make you depressed. They will help you with ways to deal with stress and other ways to overcome depression.
You are probably ready to up your dosage. It takes a while to get where you need to be. A psychologist is great. It will
Help you with your anti depressants too. Explain to the psychologist that you don’t know why you feel this way. You may have things burried deep down or it could be hormonal too. Get your hormones checked, peri menopause depending on your age. You will make an appointment with psychologist and they will talk to you and get some background history ect and talk. it also takes a while to find one that fits with you, one you connect too. You may connect straight up and be comfortable but give it a few visits first and if not find another one. I always request a female one for me.
Talking to someone the first time can be daunting but it can help. Generally you set the pace of what you talk about they start with a few questions, history and what you want out of the sessions. The lady I had gave me homework, just little tips and tasks to do at home to help find what triggers my depression and what techniques help me calm it. Counselling can assist you along with medication to keep your depression under control. Good luck.
Seeing a psychologist isn’t going to hurt. You’re best to speak to your doctor regarding your dose, remember it can take 3-4 months to settle and have full effect. When talking to a professional they will go through all your background to see if there is a root to try and discover the way you’re feeling. Personally when I had many issues, my counsellor believed it stemmed from my childhood having an alcoholic parent, although I didn’t believe this caused me any harm some ways I felt about myself was stemmed from that. Be patient, sometimes just talking it through can help x
I was on Sertraline for over a year and after the birth of my second child I started going down hill horribly. Switched to venalfaxine (Effexor) and am feeling ten times better!
