So a friend of mine is in double kidney failure, he's going to dialysis 3 times a week. He has two young children and a partner.
I want to get tested to see if I'm a match to be a living donor.
Has anyone done this before and have any tips? I'm in SA if that helps.

My friends husband donated a kidney to his wife. If you are interested in being a donor it’s best to make an appointment with your GP (a long one) to discuss your over all health and the risks to you before speaking to your friend. If you stil, want to do it, then speak to your friend and he will speak to his doctors.
Just because he’s in failure, doesn’t mean he is eligible for a transplant ( it depends on other factors too), and you will obviously need to go through a process to see if you are a match. It’s quite a detailed process.
Often the person isn’t a match but sometimes a round robin exchange with a group can be organised.
He's on the top of the transplant list, so yes he's eligible.
My friend in Adelaide is doing this for her step sister. Also a man in Adelaide has recently done this for his best mate. If you contact him he will give you some info. It was around nov/Dec and would be in Facebook search, it was all over the news and fb. Try and drop him a message.
