Hey all! My ex has received a letter of claim for a car accident but he wasnt a part of the accident so I'm wondering what he needs to do.
When I say he wasn't a part of the accident I literally mean he hasn't been in a car accident, wasn't there at all, has no idea what this is about. The letter he received is asking for $3000.
I'm concerned he will just ignore it and I know he is my ex but I dont want him to suffer for something he didnt do.

Lots of scams along these lines.
I have heard about a scam like this but they ring you not send a letter. I would probably ring your insurance company and send them a copy they will be able to tell you if it's legit or not and if it does happen to be legit they will tell him what happens from there. There needs to be a police report for a car accident so it does sound like a scam.
Happened to my sister, spoke to the insurance companies involved (it was 3 companies, $25000 damage), had to do a stat deck, luckily we knew who did it, they got caught, it all went away but it was bloody stressful. Hope it works out!
