11yr old Fluoxetine side effects

Hey ladies, I'm going to start with a bit of back story so there are no judgemental comments thanks.

My 11yr daughter has been struggling with mental health for 3yrs. I could see he anxiety worsening over time, to the point she refused to get out of bed for school and wouldn't participate in soccer (would just stand in the middle of the field). She stopped talking to anyone because she was too worried about what the doctors would think of her. She started self harming, she said it stopped the constant noise in her head. Fast forward to July this year, and the peadeatrician included fluoxetine in her mental health treatment. She now has the confidence to do everything she loves, hang out with her friends, and has started seeing an occupational therapist every week (small town, there are no children's psychologists here, video links are not an option as they are an anxiety trigger for her)

Now to my question, she has been taking fluoxetine for just over 3mths. For the past few weeks, she has been complaining of sore knees, ankles and back. She has been prone to growing pains in the past, so that was my first thoughts. But it has been going on for much longer now than what her growing pains would normally last.

We have an appointment booked with her GP as a standard every 4wks check-in. But I wanted to hear from others experiences.
Has fluoxetine caused you or your kids to experience lasting joint pain?

Fluoxetine saved my sons life. He didn’t experience any joint pain.

I dont have any experience with this type of medication but my kids would often complain of achy joints and random pains when they hit puberty, I'm guessing from rapid growth spurts and hormones.
That could be a possible explanation?

That was my first thought, but it's been going on for weeks. Normally her growing pains last for only a week

Just a random thought with zero medical knowledge - could it perhaps be just plain muscle soreness from overdoing things physically after such a long period of inactivity? Do panadol & nurofen help it?
Also, I'm so happy for you and her that her new med is working. Mental health is so often overlooked in such young children.

Fluoxetine turned my little girl around. No pains though, there are quite big side effects I understand it's not an easy decision, check the info you were given and ask your dr. Try ice of heat see if either help

Maybe some magnesium would help?

I have a child on the same meds. She suffered until about age 13 with sore knees and back but it was prior to being on fluoxetine. She has no side effects whatsoever on her meds
