Good morning - I’ve been on this page for a while but never actually asked any questions but I feel I’m in need of some advice - I’ve just turned 50 and feel most of my body is falling apart. Ive been fit and healthy all my life but I’m struggling just to do any exercise these days. I’ve been getting hot flushes and gradual weight gain for about 12 months or more now and I’m also having issues with terrible pain in my knees and feet. Do any of you get these symptoms from early stages of menopause? Can anyone recommend a great female doctor in the Cairns area who specialises in women’s health/ menopause or maybe even a naturapath?

You don't need a specialist doctor necessarily. Best practice is to treat symptoms with MHT (formally HRT) which can be prescribed by your regular GP. The Australasian Menopause Society website has a list of doctors in each state that specialise or have an interest in menopause. There is also a lot of information about risks and benefits of various treatments. You'll be surprised how much better you feel when you replace the hormones that you've lost.
