Fleas!!

Fleas!!

So we’ve moved in to our new house but I think the previous tenants must have had pets because there are so many fleas around!!
What is the protocol here?
Have you dealt with this before?
How did you beat them back?
I’ve ordered flea medication for my cats and some diamatateous earth to scatter around the outside of the house… aside from vacuuming and moping and changing bedding regularly what would you suggest??

My partner, the kids and I are all covered in bites!
I thought they didn’t like to bite humans 😭

Mortein bomb the house every two weeks until you break the breeding cycle, or get in the professionals. Almost impossible once you've got them to win... The eggs stay dormant until a host warms them and they hatch and start the infestation all over again. When this happened to us, it was a nightmare :( Good luck!

Tell the real estate. If the previous tenants paid a pet bond then the house should have been professionally sprayed when they left. If you used the oral flea treatment that keeps killing fleas for 3 months then that will help get rid of them, if you have a dog treat it too and let it inside. They don't like to live on humans or make their nests on us but they don't mind having a free feed on us.

Fleas are the worst. You don’t have to have pets to have fleas but it does increase chances.
Yes insect bombs and regular vacuuming/mopping. Bushy areas are more prone.
And they love to bite humans

They also love living under houses, so if you have a house with a cavity underneath and old wood floors, unless you deal with under the house they keep coming up through the floor boards, especially old ones as there are usually some gaps.
