I have a friend who's relationship has broken down. They have children and things are complicated. They are separating. I want to support them. One of them needs to leave a.s.a.p. They aren't sure what their options are. Money is tight and lawyers aren't affordable. Can anyone help with suggestions of support or networks available?

Are they renting or do they own?
They don’t need a lawyer to separate. People don’t usually involve lawyers until one of them has already left.
If it's around kids and custody, mediation through Relationships Australia (I *think*) can help and isn't related to lawyers or court. If the separation is relatively amicable (as in, both in agreement about separation) then lawyers aren't needed.
