Covid-19 Facts

Addressing the lack of understanding surrounding Covid-19 and the vaccination:

#Fact- The vaccine does not cure Covid, it does not stop you getting Covid and it does not stop you from passing Covid to others. IT STOPS YOU DYING FROM COVID-19 OR EXPERIENCING EXTREME SYMPTOMS. That is the purpose of the vaccine and always has been.

#FACT- The reason people who have been vaccinated already are still being asked to follow stay-at-home guidelines is because not enough people are vaccinated yet, therefore they could still contract and pass on Covid-19 to unvaccinated people (which at this stage makes up the majority of the population), which could then result in the unvaccinated person having a severe reaction to the virus that could result in their death- So even though the vaccinated person might be completely fine, it is for the safety of the unvaccinated (larger population) that they are still being asked to adhere to the regulations. If vaccinated people made up the majority of our population, the threat of Covid-19 related sickness and death would be extremely diminished, resulting in a return to living our lives as we were before, which is the goal.

#Fact- This vaccination has undergone the same preliminary testing as any other vaccine. The difference is that the funding behind this vaccination has been huge, due to the fact that we are in a pandemic, allowing them to fast track the process. Every vaccine has to go through the exact same channels that this one has. The difference is only the funding. Long term reactions can only be determined after people have had the vaccine for a long period of time. This is just the same as with every other vaccine. Vaccines that have been available for a long time now, at some point were also new. Please look into this! Government, proper health or scientific sites ONLY. Just because someone claims something online does not make it true. PLEASE make sure you are accessing correct information from a reliable source. It is always good to cross reference something if it doesn't sound quite right. Yes, as with EVERY vaccine, there is always going to be some sort of risk associated because everyone reacts differently, but the science and testing behind this vaccine is solid- Which is why it has been cleared for human use. A majority of the world-wide population will have no adverse reaction to this vaccination.

#Fact- It is not being a "sheep" to get vaccinated, follow stay at home orders or wear a mask. Please don't be so ridiculous. People are wearing masks because it will help in stopping the spread of Covid-19. Masks do this by stopping us breathing all over each other and sharing germs. You would think this was common sense, but you know what they say about common sense- it isn't actually that common! Staying at home if you don't need to go out limits the risk of you contracting the virus, and if you unknowingly have contracted it, limits the amount of places you could have passed it on to others before being diagnosed. Choosing to be vaccinated by a vaccine that has been deemed safe by the people that actually know and understand viruses and vaccines? I, for one, would trust them and their countless years studying, practising and becoming experts in this field a lot more than Sharon down the road or Emma on Facebook.

I'm not saying go out this very minute and get vaccinated if you aren't comfortable with that. Personally, I am. I have done the research, I am well informed and I have weighed the risks and decided it is safer to have the vaccine than to not, but I understand not everyone will reach this same decision. All I am asking is that you don't try and stop other people getting vaccinated to help stop Covid-19 related sickness and deaths, and you don't spread false information to others. Take the time. Do the research. If it still isn't for you, that's your decision, but let other people make informed decisions based on facts, not myths spread by people who really have no idea.
