QLD teachers!

QLD teachers. How hard is it to get work? I’m a Victorian teacher and we have been wanting to move to QLD for a few years. We waited for me to finish my degree and I’ve been teaching for a few years now? How do you go about getting a job? Would be looking at areas around Brisbane, Gold Coast or Noosa (all the hot spots I know!!)

I wouldn't be moving now! There is a major rental crisis and people who are local are struggling to find houses.

👍🏼 And those of us on the Sunny Coast are so over Victorians moving here. Yes, I know your state is shit (it was long before Covid) but please stay put for a few more years until things settle down.

OP here, I can totally understand how QLD people are feeling. This has been something that has been on the cars long before COVID, my degree just wouldn’t transfer without using heaps of credits.

Would you rather lose credits or be homeless while trying to get a place here?

Same situation in cairns.

Wow! Didn’t realise you had to live in the same place your whole life! People are allowed to move

Haha not everybody is so closedminded! Where we live people arrive all the time and are all welcomed! Rental market is tough but if you can make it work, do it.

I had to move over 2 hours away and leave a job I loved and move my kids out of a school they loved because our landlord wanted to sell the rental I was in and I couldn't get a rental in the town I lived in. So excuse me for being close minded for our whole life being turned upside down so out of staters can ”have a change”.

OP here again, WOW, I wasn’t expecting this post to generate a debate. I was just asking how QLD teachers advertise their jobs to see if it was a possibility and to see if there is a need for teachers. Thank you for being so kind.
We are in a position if we moved where we could buy a house and avoid renting (I know this will generate hate as well, I also know how fortunate I am to be in this position.)
For the lady who was very judgmental about me loosing some credits or being homeless. I’m sorry you are going through a hard time and had to move away. This is not my fault though, QLD is not the only state we were looking at and I have finished my degree, and been working for a few years, hence me saying that this move has been on the cards well before COVID.
I also don’t hate Vic, we have had our struggles this year but it’s still a beautiful state. We were just thinking of making a change for our family.
I’m my circumstance this literally has nothing to do with COVID.

Different commenter here. The homeless comment may seem judgmental but unfortunately it's reality for a lot of people moving to QLD. I would join a Brisbane rentals page to see the real stories of people who have made the move and become homeless in the process. I would seriously wait if I was you.

Thank you, seems there is a housing crisis all over the country as I know of people in the same situation in Victoria. Will definitely do my research before making any decisions. I appreciate your kind advice. Xo

There is plenty of work teaching in qld, in the right places. They advertise on smartjobs and seek.

Can I direct you to a heartbreaking post two posts above this one and suggest you reconsider for a year or two? x

I read that post and am devastated for this family. I hope they can find a house. It doesn’t say what state they’re in though, I know Victoria is also experiencing this housing crisis, especially rural Vic as everyone is moving out of Melbourne.
I’ll be doing my research for sure. I am currently under contract anyway so I was just starting the planning process. I have also joined some Facebook groups as suggested above. This won’t be a rushed decision.

My point is if you have a place to live and you aren't getting forced out then why take the risk?
