Make up

All my life I've been the tomboy/ sporty type now as I'm in my 30s I'm wanting to try dress and look a little more feminine which is no problem, the problem is I'd really like to learn how to do make up nicely cos I honestly suck!! Any one have any good tips or where or how I can learn?

There are loads of YouTube videos out there. But my advice is to start small. If you have never ever worn makeup maybe start with a little mascara and eyeshadow and build on from there

You tube! Look for a style of makeup you like. I don’t like really thick makeup so I go for someone who doesn’t paint it on.

I don't wear make up very often either but when I do I use eyeliner and mascara and thats it. It makes a huge difference to my appearance and people always say I look really different when I have only spent 5 minutes doing it. I use pencil eyeliner and blend it a bit so there is room for error, don't go near the pens if you're not used to it. I use waterproof mascara. I find foundation and lipstick makes me too self concious and I stress too much about looking weird or having to retouch, eye make up is OK as it still looks good when you sweat etc, just don't use too much eyeliner.

I haven't done this myself but what about going to a makeup shop and get one of those ladies to do your makeup for you. Tell her you want a natural, every day look and pay attention to what she does.

I'd avoid YouTube... It makes me feel inferior lol. I only wear makeup very occasionally and hubby usually comments by asking why I'm dressed up like a tart lol (jokingly because he knows I'm not offended for those who call everything abuse). I'd start with a CC or BB cream. No idea what that stands for, but it's basically a tinted moisturizer. Get a compact powder to use on top if you wish. Then a basic blush, lip gloss or tinted lip oil and basic eye shadow. For night time I use small amount of a darker shade in the eyeshadow palette around the outside corner of my eye and some mascara. Then I can avoid eye liner which is trickier.
