I'm just gonna get to the point.
Has anyone ever been able to access their super to pay for expensive dental care? I've been suffering from receding gums in my front bottom teeth for many years and yes I went to the dentist about it but was made to feel like utter crap so I never went again. I've always brushed twice a day and hoped the problem would just go away but my bottom gums just kept rotting away. Well just last week I lost my front bottom tooth and the one next to it isn't far off. I know now my teeth need severe care before I loose the entire bottom row. I'm with Australia super and if it helps I'm in the cairns area if anyone knows of dental pay plan without using my super.

Can you contact your super fund to ask?
You can go to a public dentist. Google public dentist cairns and call them. Ive gotten in twice in short waits. But you may only get emergency care not great care like for saving gums. You could try them first for advice though so you know your options.
This option is only for low income earners.
You know the Govt allowed us to access up to $10k from our super in this financial year because of COVID? You may find you meet eligibility for that if you lost income due to it. Otherwise you may need to get quotes from dentists and apply for release on medical grounds. Call the super fund, find out the requirements and see how you go.
The covid exemption is tax free, for medical grounds will be taxed and theyll take about 3000 out of 10000.
Correct, but there are still eligibility criteria for the COVID exemption and there were people trying to get around that system.
I am in NQ not Cairns though, but my dentist has Afterpay and they will also do a payment plan. Maybe call some of your local dentists and ask. You may also need to go to a specialist dentist for treatment of receding gums
