Hi Ladies
I am having a Mirena put in in the next week to stop my heavy periods and ease my horrible period symptoms.
Just wanted to hear from ladies that have one. How did you feel after you had one put in? Did it take a while to get use to? Do you still have period symptoms? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you! Xx

I’m on my 3rd one, I’m one of the lucky people who feel nothing after except abit of cramping for a day.
Then completely fine, and no periods at all for over 12 years. No symptoms etc
But I’ve heard some people have a horrible time with it.
So see what happens with you and if it’s not good don’t waste time waiting just get it out.
But if it works with your body it’s amazing!
I've had one and I liked it. It took a while to get used to but after that it was fine it didn't stop my periods completely id still get very light bleeding and bloating around that time of the month but out of all the contraceptives out there this was definitely the one for me
I had it for heavy bleeding. It’s bloody horrible. Bled lightly the entire time it was in and I lost my sex drive completely. The thought of my husband touching me made me cringe. Got it out and had an ablation. So much better. No more periods!
And the bloating was worst then the period pains!
I’ve had one put in over a year ago now. Took a year to settle down. I have the worst cramping with the marina and is worse than before. I still get a period now and then and it’s sometimes heavy and lasts a week. I’ve also had major hair loss from the marina. It’s not for everyone but if u don’t try u won’t know. Hope it works for u. Good luck
I've had mine for about 18mths and happy so far. The insertion was horrid but more due to. A it of ptsd from child birth I dont think everyone has my experience. Iwas uncomfortable for a couple of days then had some pretty bad cramping about 3 weeks in but it's settled and I haven't had an issue since. No periods but I do get some light period pains etc when I'm 'due'. I did have to have an ultrasound to make sure it is in the right spot though because the do. Couldn't see the string at the check up so I'm a bit worried about when it comes time to change it🤷♀️
I'm still spotting a month later. I have lost weight as well. I struggled with my weight.
I have cramping now, I didn't before just bad bleeding.
