Longer monthly cycles?

Periods and 35+

Hi Fam,
I'm 36 this year, lately I've noticed my monthly cycles getting longer and longer.

For example this month alone was 34 days. Traditionally, in my younger years I was 28 days on the dot. I could even feel the day I was ovulating, I knew my cycles inside out.

I have been lucky and blessed to have been able to complete my family and not have any fertility problems with conception.

I guess what I'm asking is, what does the longer cycles mean? Menopause? I have an increase in grey hairs too. So the old lady in me is coming on in full force. But before I just write it off as being an old woman... I thought I'd see others experiences!

Thanks!

Peri menopause is a possibility. Do you have any other symptoms? If you’re concerned, go see your GP for a checkup. I’m 41 and had an appointment with my GP last week for a Pap smear and general chat about changes in my cycle and other peri menopausal symptoms I’ve been experiencing over the last 4-6 months. I was sent for blood tests for just about everything but the female hormones. She said there was no point testing them yet as I’m still getting regular periods, and as the levels fluctuate daily a test at one particular moment isn’t going to show much. I get the results next week and have everything crossed that there is nothing of concern going on.
