Bad credit

Bad credit

Has anyone else had really bad credit and managed to repair their score?
I have made a series of lousy choices with money over the years, with the result that my credit score is only 82.
Has anyone else been here and managed to have the skills and self discipline to stop being crap with money and start making better choices?
I feel thoroughly ashamed of myself and am going to start financial counseling with Anglicare soon.
I want to be responsible with money and end up with a good credit rating so I can get a house one day. At this rate, I have no hope

Yes you absolutely can. I have in the past 5 years repaired mine from 0. I had a part 9 agreement (Bankrupt) and now im about to go for a home loan age 32. You can do it as long as you have learnt your lesson. Don't loan or finance anything. Save for it. :) Good luck xxx

Doesn’t declaring bankrupt stay on your credit file for 7 years??

U can't change things. Look at it finances, and contact every one u have debts with. Organise a payment plan, and pay things off fortnightly. If u can afford it, get a small loan of one of those small finance lenders (there are good ones out there) They have high interest but pay it off as quickly as u can. This will help up your score. My sister had shocking credit and was just about to land in court

I’d be avoiding any pay day lenders as someone who has struggled with debt in the past. Other then the fact they charge upwards of 40% interest, it’s a continuing contract, so once you’ve paid it you can immediately draw on it. If (once you’ve tidied everything up) you want to apply for a large car or home loan, pay day loans are not looked favourably upon.

If you haven’t already, grab a copy of your credit file - this will show every debt you have, have had, or tried to apply for. Use this to start chipping away at your debt bit by bit.
Pay all reoccurring bills before they are due. Household bills are now recorded on your credit file as to weather you made payment early, on time or overdue.
I used to write all of my debts down and record the amount owing at the end of every month. Seeing the amount get smaller and smaller kept me going.
