Gastric sleeve (100% do not want bypass)

Gastric sleeve (100% do not want bypass)

Just wondering how many kg’s people lost and how long it took? I want to loose at least 40kg which is about 40% of my body mass.

No other comments please. I’ve written specifically and exactly what info I’d like. Any other info or opinions are unwanted. Thanks so much :)

Somebody asked this same question several weeks ago, maybe you can try and find the post as there was heaps of answers on it.

I know 7 people in my life who have had this bariatric procedure. They lost between the largest weight loss of 65kg and the smallest weight loss was 40kg and over 2.5 years to 18 months respectively.

60kg for the females was the average acheived weight goal. All of them were between 107 to 118 kg. But it's different for everbody.

Plus sleeves are the ones that are done now. Bands and bypasses are old school and very rarely used anymore.

There is a program on 'insight' with Jenny Brockie, about first hand stories of those who have had it done. Worth a watch.

Bands are not done often now due to complications. Bypass is still very common and is often done as a revision if sleeves fail to help weight loss. They are also often done on ex-banding patients, as thw band tends to damage the stomach and makes it unable to be sleeved.

I lost 30kg and have gained some back. I can impact my weight better now though and if I eat salads and exercise daily I do lose weight, whereas I never used to. My specialist said the avg loss for people that don't actually diet afterwards is 10kg. Anything more than that depends on other factors like how much you had to lose in the first place and your other med conditions etc.

Close family member went from over 130kg to 80kg with the procedure within the first year. More weight would be lose by removal of excess skin if doesn't bounce back

I was 123kg at my first appt with the surgeon. I then ate like I was on death row and not sure how much more I gained. After 2 weeks pre op diet I was 115kg on surgery day.
Now almost 3yrs post op I weigh 67kg and love my life.
My sleeve was the best thing I ever did and wished I did it years earlier.
