Which Doctor?

Who do I see?

So I recently visited my GP to discuss some pain i have, whenever I get up from sitting (or long periods of rest/sleep etc) I get seering pain in my ankles into the top of my foot. ( goes away the longer I'm up and active)

I occasionally get the pain in my wrists and also middle fingers radiating back into my wrists. It feels like " bone pain" rather then a sprain/strain or anything like that. It has been going on for a long time. Perhaps a year.

Doctor did some physical tests and ruled out arthritis (I'm 35) and determined it must be because I'm double jointed.

Ok thats fine, but why now are my joints hurting and not all these years that I have been " Double jointed"?

Anyway, I can't just settle on that, as the pain is excruciating... who do I see next?

Physio? Another Doc?
Rheumatologist? Orthopedic doctor?

Who checks this stuff out?

I'd see another GP & book a longer appointment. You'll need a referral to see a specialist anyway.

I saw a pain management specialist for my migraines. That may be an option if they can't find & treat the cause. Hopefully they can!

Start with a Physio or Osteo.

There is no such thing as double jointed.. the proper term would be that your hypermobile.

My son is also hyper mobile and he has a hyper mobility specialist so google that.
Are you carrying extra weight? Could that be impacting. 18 kilos ago I was having similar pain in my feet.

I have had joint pain forever, thought it was just ageing, wearing huh heels and carry a bit too much weight.
A few months ago I blew up like a balloon, swollen joints so bad I couldn’t even walk, turned out I had ross river fever.
I seem to have recovered but still have some joint pain like before, don’t think that’s ever going away.
Maybe try another gp if you aren’t happy with the first one.

I’ve had joint pain the last year too it can also be to do with food intolerances. Try cut down on gluten and other things too and see if that helps.
