This mumma has lost her way!!!!

I am a single parent to two kids who make me super proud to be called their mum, and its been a joy to watch them grow and begin to forge their own paths. However every day its one step closer to them 'flying the coop' and I am left feeling sad about how my life will be when they go. I can count my close friends on one hand but they are all in relationships and I am like the third wheel.. My family live hours away, not that we are overly close at all. I am not so worried that I dont have a partner but more that I dont have friends. How do you make friends when your almost 50?
My personality also makes it challenging, I am introverted and dont have alot of self confidence and feel i am so socially awkward, so turning up to social events through singles groups is so super challenging that I subotage before I even get out the door. I have tried to become involved in a sporting team but this is diffulty as well as I am know as x's mum!! Please help this mumma out, give me some ideas of how to make friends.

You could try the meet-up app, but honestly the best thing to do is find a hobby that you can do in a group setting. It’s easier to build friendships over shared interests.

What are your interests? Hobbies? Could you start volunteering? There are heaps of ways to branch out. Some of my most treasured friends have been through volunteering and hobbies.
