Do you ever recover from a mental health illness or do you just learn to live with it and cope? I have had anxiety and depression for the last 4 years and overdosed 2 years ago I have had psychs meds doctors great family help etc and most of the time life is normal until something triggers it and then everything goes out the window. Progress defiently has been made just curious if there are those who “get passed it” so to speak or it just becomes more and more manageable
Does mental health illnesses ever go or do you just learn to manage it better over time?

For me, it’s getting better and doesn’t dominate my life. I manage it better, I recognise the early warning signs more consistently and I understand what usually helps.
So things continue to improve and symptoms have continued to become more manageable. I’m not sure it will ever be totally gone, but I’m fine with that. I try not to do what if’s because that can send me down a pity party rabbit hole.
I’m the same.
I think it just becomes more manageable with conditions like depression and anxiety. I think you learn how to cope, how to accept yourself and therapy is essential to the process. Therapy helps manage the triggers, work on thought patterns and assists with keeping stable. IMO everyone with mental health challenges should see a psychologist once a fortnight or so because there is a lot that can be done to help make things easier for you. Medication also has its place too if the root cause is chemical (but you need to find the right fit too). I would always suggest getting a thorough assessment through your GP referring you to a psychiatrist who can recommend a treatment plan including medication.
