Is a 5 year gap between siblings too big? Am wanting another child but my son is 4 and by the time we actually have another my son will be about 5 1/2 yrs old, just not sure if that is too much of a gap in age

There is no such thing as too big an age gap. You can have kids 15 years apart if you wish.
I actually think it’s a great age because your older child will be more independent and able to cope when you have to do things like feed the baby.
I have multiple different gaps between mine. The closest are 13 months apart and the furtherest are 5 years apart.
No right or wrong way, do what u want .
My two are 8 years apart, 10 and almost 2, it’s lovely, the eldest is so caring and sweet to my youngest and my youngest absolutely adores her big brother
Write your own story and stop comparing yourself to others.
This was what I needed to hear when I was tossing up the 4 1/2 year gap between mine, and the age gap is perfect I feel - one more year would even be a little easier 😊
Good luck!
I have a big age gap with my children. DD1 13, DD2 6, DS1 7 months.
I found that this age gap works for me and my family, I think I would have struggled if they were so close together.
I love the gap between my two. Five years apart. My son adores his baby sister and she adores him. I feel that we focus too much on the smaller gaps. I think the only problem is going back to those early baby days. But we know that all goes away. I feel that there is no competition between the two and will grow up to love and appreciate each other better.
5 yrs between my older sister and myself - she never really wanted anything to do with me unti I was an adult.... And even now we get along better in short doses.
That said, I've known other families who have great relationships regardless of age so I think it has a lot to do with the parents and other family members.
My 3 are 5 and 6 years apart..just the way life workout...good and bad to any age gap..i absolutely loved only ever having at home at a time and cherished being able to give them full attention as babies...my youngest 2 are close even tho they are a 11yr boy and 5yr girl...the oldest is away at uni so has a very different relationship with them..it is what is is and i make sure they all spend time together when they can to bond💜
